Job summary

Temple University’s Student Health Services seeks a Medical Assistant to support physicians and nurses in delivering outpatient care at Main Campus and other campus sites. The role includes welcoming patients, taking vitals, preparing them for examinations and assisting with routine CLIA-waived tests and injections.

The MA will document care in the electronic medical record, schedule appointments, and help with health education and outreach efforts.

Qualifications

• High School graduate.
• Completion of a Certified Medical Assistant Program required.
• 2-3 years’ experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients to exam rooms and records vital signs.
• Documents patient care in electronic medical records.
• Operates EMR system to schedule appointments and enter demographics.
• Performs CLIA-waived lab tests (e.g., urine dipstick) as directed.
• Administers injections as ordered by provider.
• Stock exam rooms and maintain orderly environments.
• Assists with vision/hearing screenings and patient education.
• Supports care teams in coordination of outreach and programs.
