Job summary

Benton Community School District Atkins Elementary Center is seeking a Special Education Associate / Paraprofessional to support students with special needs at Atkins Elementary Center in Atkins, Iowa. The position reports to the Special Education teaching staff, building principal, and superintendent.

Approximate weekly hours are 30-35, with a wage of $16.25 per hour during a 90-day probationary period and a school-year schedule of about 178-180 days.

Qualifications

• Assist students who have special needs; implement IEP strategies and behavior programs.
• Collect data and consult with the special education teacher.
• Follow directions from the special needs teacher and building principal.

Responsibilities

• Administer and supervise students during school activities.
• Support students with hygiene, toileting, mobility, safety and learning tasks.
• Assist with classroom materials and equipment as directed by teachers.
• Monitor and reinforce behavior programs.
• Participate in in-service training as assigned.
• Help maintain confidentiality of student information.
