Job summary

Chamberlain University seeks an on-site Student Finance Advisor to guide prospective students through the new student process, provide financial aid guidance, and build financial literacy for educational success.

You will collaborate with enrollment and student support teams, document interactions, and ensure a compliant, student-centered approach across channels. On-site campus presence is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • 1+ year in higher education, financial aid advising, customer service, or related experience.
  • Experience with Student Financial Aid software preferred.
  • Ability to work varied office hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Exposure to software and tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, Copilot).

Responsibilities

  • Supports prospective students and applicants throughout the new student process by working with enrollment to answer questions, review program costs, and outline funding options.
  • Create and confirm an accurate financial plan by establishing timeframes to complete applications.
  • Maintain student satisfaction through inbound/outbound calls, emails, and SMS with students and stakeholders.
  • Attend and support campus connection sessions with enrollment and student support.
  • Document interactions in institutional systems.
  • Educate students on financial responsibility including cost of attendance, funding timelines, and repayment implications.
  • Engage students via various communication channels to deliver first contact resolution.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and promote student self-service tools.
  • Support new student intake by partnering with enrollment to review costs and funding options.
  • Meet service level expectations for response time and quality.
  • Manage follow-up tasks to minimize barriers to enrollment.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and regulations.

Job Description
Opportunity at a Glance

This role promotes student success by delivering accurate, timely, and student-centered advisement in the area of student finance. The position provides onsite support and advocacy for prospective students and applicants throughout the new student process, including financial aid guidance and education that builds financial literacy to help students achieve their educational goals. The role models Covista values and actively fosters a culture of CARE aligned with the organization's mission, vision, and purpose. In addition, the position serves as a backup for enrollment events and provides support to continuing students as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Supports prospective students and applicants throughout the new student process by working with enrollment to answer incoming student questions, provide a thorough review of program and student costs, and outline all possible options to fund their education.
  • Create and confirm an accurate financial plan by establishing timeframes to complete any application process to be financially prepared to start and stay in school.
  • Responsible for maintaining student satisfaction through facilitation of inbound and outbound phone calls, emails, and SMS communication with students and internal stakeholders.
  • Attend and support campus connection sessions in collaboration with the enrollment team and student support liaison.
  • Accurately and thoroughly documents all interactions in the appropriate institutional systems.
  • Educates students on financial responsibility, including cost of attendance, funding timelines, repayment considerations, and implications for continued enrollment.
  • Assist and engage students through a variety of communication. This may include virtual advising appointments, inbound/outbound calls, e-mail, SMS, and proactive outreach to students to deliver first contact resolution.
  • Identifies opportunities and solutions that improve current methods and actively participates in the change of a constantly evolving organization. Promote student self-service tools during advising sessions and new student orientation.
  • Supports the new student intake process by partnering with enrollment to answer incoming questions, review program costs, and present funding options. Develops and confirms accurate financial plans by setting clear timelines for completing application processes, ensuring students are financially prepared to start and persist in their education.
  • Meets established service level expectations for response time, quality, and student satisfaction across all communication channels.
  • Actively manages follow-up tasks to ensure timely completion of financial requirements and minimizes barriers to student enrollment and persistence.
  • Ensures accurate, compliant financial information is provided to students by adhering to institutional policies and Title IV, state, and federal regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 1+ year years of experience in higher education, financial aid advising, customer service, or related experience Required

  • Exposure to software and tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, Copilot). Experience with Student Information Systems a plus
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain systems access to the NSLDS system (must not be in default of Title IV Federal aid)

In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected salary range for this position is between $18.70 and $33.84. Actual pay will be adjusted based on job-related factors permitted by law, such as experience and training; geographic location; licensure and certifications; market factors; departmental budgets; and responsibility.
