Who We Are

KIPP SoCal Public Schools is a nonprofit organization that operates 20 tuition-free, open-enrollment charter public schools, within 20 Local Education Agencies (LEA), educating more than 10,000 students and supporting 6,800 alumni to and through college and beyond.

What We Believe

KIPP SoCal believes that the purpose of education is for liberation. This means that we see, develop, and inspire the limitless potential in each and all of our KIPPsters.

What We Do

At KIPP SoCal we build trusting relationships that are strengthened by high expectations and collaboration alongside laughter and joy. We set ambitious goals and hold each other accountable for students achieving their greatest potential. We work together with each other and in partnership with families and communities in the active pursuit of a more equitable world. We do the right thing, even when it's not always comfortable standing up and speaking out against anti-blackness, racism, oppression, and injustice. We persevere through obstacles and treat failure as an opportunity to learn and grow.

Overview

KIPP SoCal Public Schools is seeking a results-driven and resourceful Student Enrollment & Recruitment Ambassador to spearhead efforts to meet ambitious student enrollment goals for our schools in LA County for the 2025-26 school year. This role demands a proven ability to achieve results through strategic outreach, relationship-building, and direct engagement with families.

As the Student Enrollment & Recruitment Ambassador, you will be accountable for generating a specified number of student interest forms and applications by actively canvassing door-to-door, making phone calls to prospective applicants, tabling in the community, and cultivating strong, positive connections with families in various settings.

The ideal candidate is an experienced outreach professional with demonstrated success in door-to-door canvassing and community engagement. Familiarity with LA County is essential but ideally has familiarity with the neighborhoods where our LA County schools are located. Our current footprint of our LA County schools is Boyle Heights, Compton, East LA, Huntington Park, South Gate, South LA and Watts.

To excel in this role, you must bring:

  • Exceptional relationship-building skills to connect with diverse families and inspire trust
  • Tenacity and physical stamina to conduct outreach efforts, including door-to-door canvassing and event participation
  • A clear focus on results, with the ability to set goals, measure progress, and deliver outcomes that align with enrollment targets
  • A deep commitment to educational equity and a passion for helping families access high-quality schools
  • This position is for someone ready to take initiative, remain adaptable, and approach challenges with creativity and determination

If you thrive on driving measurable impact and are passionate about making a difference, we want to hear from you. This role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

Full-Time role, temporary; estimated end date: September 30, 2025.

Responsibilities

  • As a Student Enrollment & Recruitment Ambassador, you will play a key role in driving student enrollment and ensuring prospective families have an exceptional experience with your assigned portfolio of schools and KIPP SoCal. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Driving Enrollment Success: Collaborate with designated points of contact to generate lead applications and secure enrollment for your assigned portfolio of school(s).
  • Representing KIPP SoCal: Serve as a knowledgeable and enthusiastic ambassador for KIPP SoCal by becoming an expert in the programs at your assigned school(s) and understanding the broader network. Actively engage with families and community members at events, including tabling, block walking, and phone banking.
  • Strategizing Recruitment Efforts: Create and maintain a comprehensive community asset map to identify and prioritize recruitment opportunities.
  • Executing Recruitment Strategies: Develop and implement weekly targeted student recruitment plans. This includes outreach to community organizations, local businesses, childcare centers, neighborhood block walking, and schools, as well as leading phone banking efforts and organizing summer retention activities to drive leads and applications.
  • Engaging Prospective Families: Collect and track prospective family information at events using HubSpot and/or other systems for follow-up. Respond to all leads within 24 business hours, documenting outreach and progress in required systems such as HubSpot or SchoolMint.
  • Creating School-Specific Content: Partner with the marketing team to create compelling, school-specific social media content. This includes photographing school events and activities to highlight the vibrant community.
  • Building Strong Relationships: Cultivate positive relationships with prospective families throughout the recruitment process. Regularly communicate through personalized messages and invitations to upcoming events in collaboration with the marketing team.
  • Hosting School Tours: Plan and lead school tours for prospective families, addressing their questions and providing an engaging experience to strengthen their decision to enroll.
  • Providing School-Based Support: Work closely with school-based teams to assist with recruitment-related activities as directed by your supervisor.
