Job summary

Colorado Youth for a Change is seeking an AmeriCorps Student Engagement Support member placed at a middle or high school in the Denver metro area to provide individualized support to a caseload of 20–40 students with engagement challenges. The role involves one-on-one work and connecting students to resources for academic success.

Members will have the opportunity to take Behavioral Health Assistant courses through Aurora Community College; the credential is fully funded and may lead to

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
• Must be at least 18 years old on start date.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must pass a full background check, including a sex offender and criminal history registry check.
• Fluent in English; basic computer skills and online navigation are required.

Responsibilities

• Identify caseload students who qualify for support services.
• Conduct one-on-one meetings with students to boost engagement and success.
• Develop and maintain a weekly meeting schedule for 20–40 students.
• Track progress in databases and coordinate with school staff and families.
• Provide tutoring resources and connect students to mental health supports.
• Develop education materials on mental health topics.
