The San Antonio Food Bank INC is seeking a Student Engagement Manager to develop and grow our Student Engagement Program. You will serve as the main liaison between the Food Bank and schools, creating service, learning, and career development opportunities for students of all ages.

General Description

The Student Engagement Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and growing
the San Antonio Food Bank's Student Engagement Program. This position serves as the primary liaison between the Food Bank and educational institutions, creating meaningful service, learning, and career development opportunities for students of all ages.

The Student Engagement coordinator will cultivate partnerships with schools, colleges, universities, and community organizations to provide engaging experiences that support the Food Bank's mission while fostering civic engagement, workforce development, and the next generation of nonprofit leaders.

This position oversees programs ranging from youth volunteer initiatives to graduate-level field placements and is responsible for creating sustainable pathways for students to engage with the Food Bank throughout their educational journey.

Responsibilities
Program Development & Planning
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve a comprehensive Student Engagement Program.
  • Develop annual goals, program outcomes, and evaluation metrics.
  • Create standardized processes, policies, and educational materials for all student engagement opportunities.
Relationship Management & Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Build and maintain relationships with learning institutions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all student partnership inquiries.
  • Identify new opportunities to expand educational partnerships throughout the region.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to identify project opportunities for students.
  • Facilitate communication between students, supervisors, faculty, and staff.
Talent Acquisition & Student Support
  • Recruit, interview, and place students in meaningful assignments across Food Bank departments.
  • Match student interests and academic requirements with organizational needs.
  • Coordinate onboarding, orientation, scheduling, and required documentation.
  • Monitor student progress and provide ongoing support.
  • Ensure placements provide valuable learning experiences while meeting organizational goals.
Data Analysis & Reporting
  • Track participation data and program outcomes.
  • Collect participant and partner feedback.
  • Prepare reports demonstrating program impact.
  • Recommend improvements based on data and best practices.
Schedule

Traditional Monday to Friday business hours. Includes a rotating Saturday daytime and a Wednesday evening shift.

Required Qualifications
  • College degree in relevant fields such as education, social work, non-profit management, logistics, business administration (or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience)
  • 1-2 years of experience in coordinating volunteers, managing student groups or programs, direct education, non-profit management, workforce development, or other related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to speak publicly, present, and deliver clear instructions to large, diverse groups.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams) and experience utilizing databases or CRM software.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation.
  • Must be able to work some non-traditional hours. This schedule includes a rotating Saturday daytime and a Wednesday evening shift.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Youth program development experience
  • Social services and outreach awareness experience
  • Safety training and active certifications in First Aid, CPR, AED, or occupational safety standards.
  • Leadership skills and experience, specifically tailored to group leadership, school age children or young adults.
Physical Demands

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions and responsibilities of this job.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time while performing administrative tasks. Must frequently move and navigate across varied environments, including indoor and outdoor locations.
Constantly positions oneself to assess, organize, and prepare supplies. Must be able to safely transport, lift, or move various items weighing up to 30 pounds.
Frequently communicates, instructs, and exchanges accurate information with all sizes and ages of groups both in office settings and noisy warehouse environments.

Must possess the visual acuity required to review documentation, track inventory metrics on both digital and handwritten devices, monitor safety activity within a variety of landscapes.

Work Environment

The work environment is primarily indoors but may require attendance at events that are held outdoors. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
