Job summary

Miami University seeks a Coordinator of Student Engagement to support a comprehensive student engagement experience through student organizations, leadership development, community service, and orientation programming.

This role advances student success by integrating co-curricular involvement with academic pathways, retention strategies, and career outcomes to prepare students for post-graduate success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required upon appointment; experience in event programming/coordination, and/or community service programming/coordination, and/or orientation programming/coordination.
• Experience applying student development theory or best practices to program design and student support. Demonstrated ability to foster student learning, growth, and engagement through co-curricular experiences.
• Familiarity with marketing and project management tools (e.g., Campus Groups, Emma, Canvas, Canva, SLATE, google suite).

Responsibilities

• Oversee student organization recognition, finances, compliance, and support for recruitment, programming, and assessment.
• Develop and implement student leadership programs and training for student leaders and organization advisors.
• Coordinate community service and civic engagement opportunities with campus and community partners.
• Plan and execute campus-wide programs (e.g., Welcome Weeks, Fall Fest, Get Involved Fair, Transfer Student Week).
• Advise student programming boards and support student-led events.
• Promote involvement opportunities through outreach, communications, and social media.
• Collaborate on student orientation programs, including advising and transition support.
• Collect, analyze, and report data on student engagement, retention, and program outcomes; use insights to continuously improve programming and demonstrate impact on persistence and graduation rates.
