Job summary

EKU Careers is seeking a Student Worker for the Richmond Campus. The role is a 10-hour-per-week student position with a posted minimum salary of $8 per hour. You will serve as a peer mentor and help recruit students for the AFA minor, while supporting planning of a monthly discussion series and AFA/CISE events.

You will design flyers, promote events on campus and social media, and identify collaboration opportunities with other departments. Background checks apply.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled at EKU.
• This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a peer mentor.
• Recruit students for the AFA minor by attending spotlight events.
• Help plan a monthly student and faculty discussion series at the Center and identify panelists.
• Organize and promote AFA/CISE-related events and activities on campus and social media.
• Identify and post educational articles on the black experience on AFA/CISE social media platforms.
• Design and circulate fliers for AFA/CISE-related events and activities.
• Facilitate the AFA monthly spotlight series for faculty, staff, and students.
• Identify opportunities for collaboration with other departments on campus.
• Facilitate “Africana Night Flix” monthly film series.
• Help plan events organized by student organizations.
• Organize biannual career workshops led by AFA alums.
