Urbana High School seeks a High School Student Engagement Attendance Advocate (S.E.A.A.) to identify truant students and establish communication with students and families. The role provides interventions to improve progress and collaborates with programs and supports for targeted students.

The position requires teamwork, documentation of interventions, home visits, and ongoing coordination with teachers and administrators to support attendance and student success.

Qualifications

• Training in a human relations field such as Social Work, Community Psychology, Education, Child Development and/or related practical experience.

Responsabilités

• Attend staff, team, grade level, and/or professional development meetings as assigned by supervisor.
• Review attendance reports to identify students who are truant or at risk of dropping out.
• Collaborate with case managers when students have an IEP or 504 plan.
• Provide individualized and small group interventions for targeted/caseload students.
• Maintain documentation of interventions; documentation submitted weekly.
• Engage and supervise students during arrival, transitions, and departure.
• Maintain open communication with administrators, teachers and support staff about attendance and progress.
• Conduct home visits in partnership with another staff member to encourage parental involvement.
• Maintain records of contacts with students and families and refer to additional resources.
• Engage students in various school settings and at home to improve academic performance.
• Refer students and families to district and community resources.
• Establish rapport with students and advocate for their educational interests.
• Attend monthly SEA meetings and apply information from SEA and PD sessions.
• Promote a positive school climate and support district policies in the Student/Parent Handbook.
