Nature & Purpose of Position

STEM / MATH tutors will support students in advancing their competencies in the identified STEM / MATH courses. Sessions will be individual or groups and conducted either face-to-face or online. A typical day will consist of assisting students with study strategies, content review/interpretation, and class assignments/materials. Tutors will be expected to work 10-25 hours per week, which will be assigned based on need and availability. Additionally, tutors will continuously work toward College Reading & Learning Association ( CRLA ) certification, which is part of the employee evaluation process.

Other Requirements for the Position

Qualifications:

a. 3.0 overall GPA

b. Enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at SHSU for at least 2 semesters.

c. You must have maintained an A average in the course you are applying to tutor for.

d. Two recommendation letters from faculty/instructors who can discuss your math skills and your ability to work with students.

e. MUST have completed a FAFSA for the current academic term. If you have applied for FAFSA , and you qualify for Work Study, you will be asked to accept your Work Study award.
