Job summary

Great Oaks NYC seeks an Associate Dean of Students to shape a warm, disciplined school culture under the Senior Principal and with the Dean of Students. You will work directly with students and families to uphold the school's values and academic excellence.

Responsibilities include building a culture aligned with core values, training staff in restorative practices, designing programs that recognize positive behaviors, and partnering with families to support each learner.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication; ability to provide constructive feedback to staff.
• Strong organizational and self-management skills; ability to multitask effectively.
• Self-confidence and flexibility; respond well to feedback and implement it.
• Thrive in a fast-paced environment with prioritization of tasks.
• Commitment to equity and academic excellence and belief all students can succeed.
• Willingness to work occasionally on weekends or evenings.

Responsibilities

• Build a transformative school culture aligned with Great Oaks core values and mission.
• Ensure staff are skilled in restorative practices and sensitive handling of students' social-emotional issues.
• Design and implement programs recognizing and celebrating positive behaviors and mindsets.
• Devising rituals that promote culture and create a school-wide identity among students.
• Cultivate students' cultural competency through school programs and events.
• Meet with students and parents to understand individual needs and support the student body.
• Oversee behavior management tools and training, ensuring consistent school-wide deployment.
• Communicate with parents regarding attendance, progress, and discipline.
• Review school data weekly to ensure fair and equitable discipline.
