Jobtailor is seeking a part-time Beedf Ranch Assistant for the Soap and Berry Creek Ranches in Corvallis, Oregon. The role supports daily operations, livestock care, and collaborative research setups with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Assist Beef Ranch manager in daily ranch operations.
• Feed, water, and care for livestock with emphasis on animal health.
• Collaborate with farm manager and peers; perform individual tasks.
• Maintain safe, clean, organized ranch and campus facilities.
• Perform facility upkeep and build/repair fences.
• Assist with cattle management tasks including calving and vaccination.
• Support labs and research setups as needed.
• Operate ATVs and farm equipment as required.
• Participate in data collection for research projects.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Assist the Beef Ranch manager in daily operations of the Soap and Berry Creek Beef Ranches
• Feed, water, and care for animals, prioritizing proper animal health
• Collaborate with the farm manager and fellow student employees, as well as perform individual work
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for people and livestock
• Perform facility upkeep for the main beef ranches and other campus locations
• Build and repair fences
• Assist with cattle management, including calving, vaccinating, and doctoring, as needed
• Assist with setup for labs and research studies, as needed
• Drive ATVs and farm equipment, as needed
• Perform animal care and facility/pasture maintenance; may include research and data collection

Requirements

• Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
• Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
• Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
• High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
• Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
• Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term
• Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
• Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term
• Must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified
• Must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle History Check
• Possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence
• Reliable form of transportation required for the off-campus facility
• Preferred: Past experience demonstrating the ability to work as a team
• Preferred: Experience working around or with cattle
• Ability to maneuver items weighing up to 50 pounds
• Must work at least one weekend per month
• Schedule set according to class schedule
