Job summary

Stillwater Area Public Schools in Stillwater, MN seeks a Student Council Assistant for Stillwater Middle School to lead and mentor student leaders, organize meetings, and support school-wide events while promoting student voice and responsible leadership.

You will work with students, staff, families, and community partners to foster positive school culture and ensure programs align with district policies and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Current district employee preferred.
• Strong organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Interest in student leadership development, civic engagement, and school improvement.
• Ability to mentor middle school students and support student-led decision making.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, support, and supervise Student Council members and elected officers.
• Facilitate regular Student Council meetings and leadership development activities.
• Guide students in identifying school needs, gathering feedback, and representing student voice.
• Support planning and execution of school-wide events, service projects, and spirit activities.
• Help student leaders set goals, manage projects, and evaluate outcomes.
• Attend PTA meetings with students (quarterly).
• Foster leadership skills such as communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and ethics.
• Collaborate with staff, families, and community partners to support Student Council initiatives.
• Ensure activities align with district policies and student safety guidelines.
• Manage communication, event logistics, budgets, and fundraising as needed.
