Job summary

San Diego State University is seeking a compassionate, culturally responsive Clinical/Counseling Therapist to join Counseling & Psychological Services at SDSU Imperial Valley. The role provides a broad range of services to students, including individual, group, couples and family counseling, crisis intervention, and trauma response.

You will work with a diverse student body, collaborate with faculty and staff, and help expand wellness programs and outreach.

Qualifications

• Terminal degree in a psychology-related field.
• Current California licensure as a psychologist (PhD/PsyD), LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC; or eligibility for licensure in California.
• Demonstrated clinical effectiveness using multicultural counseling approaches with clients.
• Experience with case management, brief interventions, crisis management, and ethical and legal issues.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual, group, couples and/or family counseling.
• Respond to emergencies with crisis and suicide intervention.
• Develop and deliver prevention education and wellness programs.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, administrators, families, student organizations, and campus departments to coordinate support and connect students with resources.
• Lead outreach to increase awareness of counseling, wellness, and mental health resources.
