Student Career Program Specialist (Assistant Director- Starr Career Development Center)

Reporting to the Deputy Director of the Starr Career Development Center, the successful candidate for the position will provide pre-professional training to undergraduates in a multicultural environment on the school-to-work transition. The Starr Career Development Center (Starr) is a fast-paced, highly utilized student service which provides comprehensive career services to Baruch's 16,500 undergraduates from the time they enter as freshmen through graduation, with additional services for alumni.
Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Consults with faculty, staff, administrators, and employers regarding students' career development needs
Supports the recruiting/job postings team by reviewing and vetting new employer contacts and providing ongoing customer service by responding to employers inquires and addressing their concerns in a timely fashion
Plans, organizes and runs large-scale career fairs, expos, employer panels with the goal of connecting students with employers and increase student access to opportunities.
Collaborates with student organizations and other campus groups on events and programming. Develop relationships with campus partners to identify opportunities for career programs.
Works individually and in groups on career preparation and job search techniques including vocational assessment, resume writing, interviewing techniques, networking, LinkedIn reviews, etc.
Trains interns and peer counselors on the design and delivery of workshops.
Performs all necessary functions as part of the Starr Career Development Center team.
Provides training and supervision to peer and graduate counselors and to adjunct staff as needed.
May lead/instruct the First Year Seminar or other career related courses each fall and/or spring semester.
Some evening hours and occasional weekend events required
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and four years related experience required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in counseling, higher education administration, I/O psychology, human resources, or related field preferred.
Experience working in a college counseling or career center with a diverse population a plus.
Computer skills including knowledge of web-based career management programs important.
Assessment, reporting, and use of data to inform decisions is also important.

Assists in collection, tabulation and analysis of outcomes data for students and other stakeholders, as well as research of employment and market trends
Assists in policy development and strategic planning/special projects.
Serves as a liaison to student groups, clubs, and athletic organizations.
Represents career office on college committees, conferences, and to the College community at large
Conducts outreach programming, orienting employers and other constituents to services
Performs related duties as assigned.
