Job summary

Lexington School District Two is seeking a dedicated School Bus Assistant to support the Bus Driver in transporting students safely. You will monitor student behavior, enforce safety rules, report incidents, and assist with boarding, disembarking, and everyday operations on the bus.

The role requires a high school diploma, being at least 18, a clean background, and a South Carolina driver's license; prior work with children is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduate; at least 18 years old.
• Willingness to become a certified school bus driver in the future.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Must have an acceptable background check and SC Driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance to bus driver by monitoring activities of students being transported; informs driver of any behavior concerns, completes discipline slips when necessary.
• Informs students of bus safety and enforces rules; diffuses situations to prevent distraction or injury.
• Reports observations and incidents for communication to appropriate personnel.
• Assists students in getting onto and off the bus; ensures safety and welfare.
• Communicates with classroom aides, teachers, principals, parents and supervisors as appropriate.
• Documents student information, records, and route surveys; prepares reports and logs.
