Job summary

Friendship Community Care is seeking a part-time bus monitor to help ensure student safety on morning and afternoon routes. You will assist children entering and exiting the bus, maintain order and seat belt usage, and act as a spotter when backing up the bus. Daily documentation and adherence to transportation procedures are required.

The role emphasizes safety, confidentiality, and teamwork with drivers and staff, with training provided on HIPAA and FCC policies.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Prefer 1–3 months related experience or training.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, and write simple correspondence.

Responsibilities

• Assist children when entering/exiting the bus and keep them seated with seat belts fastened.
• Walk along the aisle at stops to ensure child safety and security.
• Act as a spotter when the bus backs up and check buses for children at end of routes.
• Turn in required documentation daily (roster, absences, etc.).
• Maintain bus binder with seating charts, client information, emergency procedures and forms.
• Complete monthly car seat inspections and report maintenance issues immediately.
• Respond to medical emergencies on the bus and follow HIPAA policies.
• Attend staff meetings and follow FCC policies; confidentiality is required.
