Job summary

San Jose City College seeks a Counselor (General/Student Athletics) for a full-time, 11-month assignment in the Division of Counseling and Matriculation. Assignment may include day and evening responsibilities, with some days outside the eleven-month academic calendar.

This position supports student athletes, ensures academic eligibility, and assists with transfer planning within a diverse college community.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Counseling, Rehabilitation Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Guidance Counseling, Educational Counseling, Social Work, Career Development, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Marriage, Family and Child Counseling.
• Equivalency accepted for degrees outside the exact discipline with appropriate documentation.
• An equivalent qualification may apply if a BA plus MFT license meets the requirements.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in assigned discipline and communicate clearly.
• Adapt methods for students with special needs and different learning styles.
• Participate in professional development and professional organizations.
• Maintain eligibility requirements and assist with student-athlete academic success.
