Job summary

The Student-Athlete Support Counselor provides direct clinical care and support to Northeastern University student-athletes through University Health and Counseling Services (UHCS) and Athletics. This on-site role includes one evening shift per week and involves brief psychological assessments, short-term psychotherapy, follow-up appointments, and triage support as needed.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in social work/psychology/counseling or related field required; licensure or eligibility.
• Experience in intercollegiate or professional sports settings.
• Experience providing brief, evidence-based psychotherapy to young adults in a university counseling center or similar setting.
• Trauma-informed assessment and crisis intervention experience.
• Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary campus environment.
• Commitment to culturally responsive, anti-oppressive practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical care and support to student-athletes via UHCS and Athletics.
• Conduct brief psychological assessments and short-term psychotherapy.
• Coordinate referrals for ongoing counseling and emergency services.
• One evening shift per week; triage as needed.
• Consult with Athletics and UHCS team; liaison with trainers and coaches.
