Job Summary

Bearcat Buddies Tutoring Program is accepting applications for Federal Work Study Eligible Students to tutor Cincinnati Public School Children in Math and Reading for the Academic Year 2026-2027. Pay is $16.00 per hour. Transportation is provided to selected schools. Remote opportunities are available through Cincinnati Digital Academy. Preference is given to tutors who have volunteered with Bearcat Buddies in previous semesters.

Responsibilities
  • Attend all tutoring sessions during the semester.
  • Collaborate with students and teachers to set realistic academic goals and create a plan to achieve them.
  • Encourage and motivate students to build self‑confidence and reduce academic anxiety.
  • Teach effective study habits, time management, and organizational skills to help students become independent learners.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with students and teachers.
  • Establish a trusting and supportive rapport with students to create a comfortable learning environment.
  • Uphold professional standards, including punctuality and discretion.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Subject Knowledge – ability to explain concepts clearly and answer questions accurately.
  • Communication Skills – convey information in a clear, concise, and engaging manner, both verbally and in writing.
