As a tutor, you will attend sessions, set goals with students and teachers, build confidence, teach study skills, and maintain open communication to support independent learning in a Cincinnati context.

Qualifications

  • Tutor Cincinnati Public School students in Math and Reading.
  • Academic year 2026-2027; pay $16 per hour.

With a mission to empower anduplift our community's youth, Bearcat Buddies has rapidly grown tobecome one of the largest tutoring programs in the CincinnatiMetropolitan area and one of UC’s fastest growingprograms.

At Bearcat Buddies, we believe in the transformative powerof education and the importance of giving back to our community.Our tutors provide invaluable academic support to students in theCincinnati Public School community through weekly tutoringsessions. UC students in our program also benefit from the impactthat engaging in their community brings. It's a chance to make ameaningful difference in the lives of Cincinnati's youth whilegaining valuable insights into our vibrant city.

The University of Cincinnati's Bearcat Buddies TutoringProgram is accepting applications for Federal Work Study EligibleStudents to tutor Cincinnati Public School Children in Math andReading, for the Academic Year 2026-2027 and get paid $16.00 perhour to do so. (IF YOU ARE NOT FEDERAL WORK STUDY ELGIBLE, YOU CANNOT APPLY FOR THIS POSITION). Some transportation provided.Students will need 2 I9 Verification forms (examples includePassport, Driver's License, Student I.D., and original SocialSecurity Card).

Key Responsibilities:

Attendance: Students are required to attendall sessions during the semester.

Setting Goals: Collaborating with studentsand teachers to set realistic academic goals and create a plan toachieve them

Building Confidence: Encouraging andmotivating students to build their self-confidence and reduceacademic anxiety.

Encouraging Study Skills: Teaching effectivestudy habits, time management, and organizational skills to helpstudents become independent learners.

Maintaining Communication: Keeping open linesof communication with students and, teachers.
