  • Work shift Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–5 p.m.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and organize the front office to create a welcoming, efficient environment for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Understand and apply UT policies related to student services.
  • Answer inquiries via phone, email, or in-person, directing complex questions to the right unit or person.
  • Support both new and returning students with general questions and guidance through university processes, connecting them to campus resources as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Details:

Purpose

Student Associates act as the administrative front line for a Student Affairs Undergraduate Advising Office. They perform everyday administrative tasks such as answering phones, creating appointments for students, data entry, and website assistance. They do not advise students on which classes to take, but they do connect students with the appropriate resources. The ideal candidate will also have a background in customer service,a strong sense of integrityand confidentiality,and must be able to demonstrate the ability to take initiative. Perform other office tasks as needed. Hiring for 2026 Fall Term and expected to continue for the Spring Term.

All training necessary will be provided.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain and organize the front office space to ensure a welcoming and efficient environment for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of University of Texas policies and procedures, particularly as they relate to student services, and apply this knowledge in daily interactions.
  • Respond to inquiries received through phone, email, or in-person interactions, providing accurate information and directing complex or specialized questions to the appropriate persons or units.
  • Provide support for both new and returning students, assisting with general questions, guidance through university processes, and connecting them to campus resources as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Current student at UT Austin and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) for the current regular semester, in good academic standing (not on academic warning or academic dismissal).
  • Work Shift: Applicants will be expected to work during business hours Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
  • If applying as a work study candidate, then must be awarded Federal Work-Study on the Work-Study Verification (WSV)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Undergraduate student at UT graduating after May 2027
  • Customer service experience
  • Detail-oriented, organized, flexible, and can work independently and accurately with little supervision

Position Details
