Job Summary

The Student Assistant will support a grant-funded student success project focused on intensive, intentional mentoring of first year students by faculty, tracking effects on student belonging, first-year persistence, and other objective measures related to student retention and progression. This position will assist with project coordination, event support, communication, recordkeeping, and basic data management for a two-semester pilot involving GGC 1000 students and volunteer faculty mentors.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with scheduling, calendar updates, and meeting coordination for the project team, Faculty Learning Community, and related events.
  • Help prepare and distribute materials for faculty mentors, including rosters, templates, handouts, and toolkit drafts.
  • Support documentation of mentor touchpoints by organizing forms, logs, and project files.
  • Assist with student survey administration, reminder communications, and collection of responses as directed.
  • Help maintain accurate records, spreadsheets, and project tracking documents.
  • Provide logistical support for mentor orientation, FLC meetings, and student engagement activities.
  • Assist with preparation of reports, presentations, and dissemination materials.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
    Work Schedule -
    Flexible hours during regular business hours, with occasional evening or event support as needed. Schedule will be coordinated with the supervisor around class commitments. Student worker will average approximately 8 hours per week during the Fall and Spring semesters.
Required Qualifications
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Georgia Gwinnett College.
  • Must be in good academic standing and maintain good academic standing for the duration of employment.
  • Must be in good conduct standing with Georgia Gwinnett College and maintain good conduct for the duration of employment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to use email, Microsoft Office, and basic spreadsheets.

  • Experience with student success programs, orientation, peer support, or campus involvement.
