Job summary

Upstate Medical University is seeking a student to serve as Processor and Specimen Receipt in our clinical laboratory. You will receive and process patient specimens following established protocol, answer phone calls, call results, and use the laboratory information system to enter test requests and retrieve data.

The position requires enrollment as a matriculated student in Medical Technology or related discipline, with work hours 2:30-11:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday, offering exposure to lab

• Student in Medical Technology or related discipline. Must be a matriculated student enrolled in a college or university.

Responsibilities

• Receive and process patient specimens following established protocol.
• Answer phone calls and relay results and panic values when needed.
• Enter test requests and retrieve data using the laboratory information system.
• Print worksheets and maintain patient confidentiality.
