Job summary

The New York State Department of State’s Office for New Americans (ONA) is seeking a Student Assistant to support evaluation, data, and policy work. The role offers exposure to program evaluation, data dashboards, and training development for outreach to immigrant communities.

Interns may work on two assignments: program evaluation support or immigration policy research. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Matriculated part-time or full-time student enrolled in an accredited U.S. college or university; documentation required.
• Preference for graduate students in relevant fields (counseling, public administration, health, social sciences).
• Experience with data analysis, reporting, and creating simple data visuals is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Update ONA program database and assist in data dashboard development.
• Perform statistical analysis and create charts/visualizations of program data.
• Develop training materials on evaluation frameworks and logic models for staff.
• Create a Referral Resource to link constituents to disability resources.
• Develop train-the-trainer materials for outreach on disability resources.
• Assist with administrative tasks and scheduling.
• Support policy/data research on immigrant integration as needed.
