Job description

The New School was founded by forward-thinking educators in 1919 to defy the intellectual constraints of a traditional college education. The Dean's Office at Liberal Arts and Social Research is seeking a student graphic and communications designer to create promotional materials supporting college events, webpages, digital media platforms, newsletters, and initiatives throughout the academic year. The successful candidate will report to the Dean's Office and will play a key role in shaping how the college's programs and events are visually communicated to the community.

Responsibilities: This position supports the Dean's Office at Liberal Arts and Social Research by designing promotional and communications materials for college events, webpages, digital platforms, and newsletters throughout the academic year.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop creative assets for promotional and marketing use that align with university branding standards to support various programs and initiatives.
  • Produce original graphics and digital layouts for web platforms to facilitate the ongoing communication objectives of the college.
  • Generate compelling visual content for recurring newsletters and department publications consistently.
  • Partner with the Dean's Office staff to transform strategic goals into impactful and legible visual materials.
  • Coordinate the organization of digital templates and design assets to ensure accessibility for future project needs.
  • Adhere to set production schedules to ensure design deliverables meet all event and publication deadlines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proficiency with Mac iOS and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
  • Detail-oriented, with an eye for creating legible and readable content.
  • Federal Work-Study Award preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • First-year student interested in cultivating their design skill set over four years.
  • Prior graphic/communication design and writing experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and familiarity with design best practices.
WORK MODE

Hybrid - Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice. Employees in this role will also be expected to use their best judgment to be on campus when necessary in order to best fulfill the responsibilities of their job descriptions.

Hourly Rate: $19/hr
