The University of Kansas is seeking a Student Teaching Assistant for FIN 230 for Spring 2027. The TA will monitor and grade students, manage attendance, and support the instructors in delivering course content.

Applicants must be admitted to the KU School of Business for Spring 2027, have completed FIN 230 with an A, be a Finance major, and maintain a 3.0+ GPA. In-person hours are 2–4 weekly, primarily Thursdays 3:30–4:20 pm.

Qualifications

• Completed FIN 230 or equivalent and earned an A for the course.
• Finance major.
• Overall GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Ability to attend class every Thursday from 3:30-4:20 pm in SP27 and work approximately 2-4 hours per week.
• Integrity and ability to model professionalism to fellow students.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsabilités

Position Overview

The School of Business invites students to submit application materials for consideration for a student hourly position as a Student Teaching Assistant for FIN 230 during the Spring 2027 semester. The TA will monitor and grade students in FIN 230 and manage attendance.

Throughout their employment, student employees will maintain and manifest positive actions that align with and support the Code of Conduct for the School of Business.

Job Description

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• 30% - Attend every FIN 230 class from 3:30-4:20 pm on Thursdays in Capitol Federal Hall and track students and assign a daily engagement score
• 30% - Update grades for assignments and daily scores in a timely manner. Maintain grading confidentiality in accordance with University policy
• 25% Answer student questions and communicate necessary information. Alert the instructors to issues as needed
• 5% - Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

1. Be admitted to the School of Business for Spring 2027.
2. Completed FIN 230 or equivalent and earned an A for the course (if you are currently in FIN 230, you must have an A or expect to attain one once final grades are posted).
3. Finance major.
4. Overall GPA of 3.0 or above.
5. Ability to attend class every Thursday from 3:30-4:20 pm in SP27 and work approximately 2-4 hours per week.
6. Integrity and ability to model professionalism to fellow students.
7. Strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Be involved in activities and leadership at KU and/or within the School of Business, and be able to speak to those activities with students.
2. Have a strong sense of their own career objectives.
3. Strong academic profile.
4. Intention to work in future semesters as a T.A. if possible.
5. Preference given to sophomores and juniors.

Position Requirements

During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must:

• (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester.
• Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students.
• (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Employment Conditions

• (1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
• (2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
