Pay Range

NYS Department of Transportation provided pay range: $20.00/hr - $20.00/hr.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Observe performance of vehicle diagnostics; mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs on vehicles and equipment under supervision of a Service and Repair Mechanic.
• Assist with routine maintenance tasks such as brake jobs, oil changes, and other minor maintenance work.
• Open work orders, document work performed, and research and order parts; deliver parts when required.
• Shadow Fleet Management staff for additional job shadowing opportunities.
• Support the department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations as part of the Incident Command System.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be currently enrolled in an automotive or diesel repair technology program.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Salary Information

The salary range listed reflects the full range for this graded position. For new State employees appointed into graded positions, the annual salary is the hiring rate (beginning of the Salary Range) of the position. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations and negotiated union contracts.
