Job description

The Association of American Law Schools (AALS) is a 501(c)(3) higher education association representing 174 American law schools. AALS seeks a Washington, DC-area undergraduate or graduate students to work approximately 20–25 hours per week to support the association’s communications and outreach efforts. The position is remote, with the possibility to work some days in-person at the AALS Dupont Circle offices.

The ideal candidate will be detailed oriented, self-motivated, reliable, and willing to roll up their sleeves to help with any project or task assigned. They will be familiar with Microsoft Office, cloud-based file sharing and storage, and editing websites (WordPress preferred.)

The ideal candidate for this position will have strong writing skills, the ability to synthesize and easily explain information from disparate sources, and a commitment to meeting deadlines.

Tasks for student assistants in communications may include: researching and summarizing news stories about legal education; contacting law school communications offices; data entry; assisting with social media content; online research for communications projects; writing and formatting content for the association’s website and publications; updating records in various databases; and assisting with PowerPoint and written presentations.

To be considered for this opportunity, candidates must reside in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, DC, and live within a commutable distance from the AALS headquarters. The position is remote, with the possibility to work some days in-person at the AALS Dupont Circle offices, accommodating student class schedules and the Association’s needs.
