Job summary

Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health is seeking an Instructional Assistant to work in Neshamiy Public School District - Elementary, supporting students with autism and other special education needs under the supervision of the Special Education Teacher.

The role includes implementing IEPs and PBSPs, assisting with student personal needs, participating in meetings, and applying crisis intervention techniques under supervision.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Associates degree required.
  • At least one year of experience in an educational setting working with individuals with autism or other special education populations preferred.

Seeking Instructional Assistants, working in Neshamiy Public School District - Elementary

Starting at $21/hour up to $24.50/hour pending higher education and experience in the field or RBT certification

As an Instructional Assistant you will work with students with autistic support needs within the Neshamiy School District. Reporting to the Special Education Teacher, among other duties, this position will:

  • Support and maintain classroom policies and procedures, while assisting studentsby modeling appropriate behavior, providing emotional support, and adopting a patient and friendly attitude.
  • Assist in the implementation of students’ individualized education program (IEP) and positive behavior support plan (PBSP) as directed by the teacher.
  • Assist with student personal needs, when required, including medical needs in conjunction with the school-based health or nursing staff.
  • Participates in meetings and in-service training programs as assigned.
  • Understand team goals and own role within the team.Support team decisions and cooperates with others within and outside the team.
  • Utilize crisis physical intervention techniques under the direction of the teacher and as appropriate tothe setting andthe degree of threat to the safety of thestudentand others.

Schedule: M-F: 8:20am - 3:35pm: This position is aligned with the school calendar and is a full-time role covering a 10-month period and opportunites for extended school year program in summer break.
