Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead group counseling and classroom lessons on social-emotional skills, mental wellness, and substance awareness.
• Provide individual and group support for at-risk students and crisis intervention when needed.
• Collaborate with staff and community resources to support prevention, intervention, and student rehabilitation.

Job Description

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university.
• New Jersey CEAS or Standard Student Assistance Coordinator (SAC) endorsementrequired.
• Excellent communication, counseling skills, and ability to establish and maintain positive rapport with students.
• Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education, students, and substance use.
• Knowledge of NJSA 18A:40A-1 and procedures for the identification of stuents possibly abusing drugs, alcohol or other substances and mental health issues/concerns.
• Knowledge of community resources available for the prevention, intervention and treatment, and rehabilitation of alcohol and drug problems, as well as youth mental wellness and crisis intervention.
• Ability to use computer network system and software applications including Microsoft Office and virtual platforms like Google Suite for Educators.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with at risk students.
• Knowledge of behavioral modifications and intervention strategies which will improve student behavior and motivate disaffected students.
• Demonstrated ability to lead group counseling and classroom lessons on social-emotional skills, mental wellness, alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
