Western New Mexico University is seeking a Student Activities Coordinator to spearhead the development and implementation of student programming. The role spans engaging diverse students and maintaining a strong online presence through social media platforms, as well as organizing various cultural events.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree, have program development experience, and showcase strong communication skills. This position offers a dynamic work environment aimed at boosting student engagement and success.
Responsible for the development and implementation of student programming, in
coordination with the Director of Student Life & Student Success, as well as maintaining the front desk of the Student Life office and assisting with the food pantry. The Student Activities Coordinator will manage the social media and online presence for Student Life.
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Leadership, Hospitality management, or related field required. Two years of work experience in Higher Education can substitute for education. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
Experience including supervision of employees, program development experience and experience working with special populations of students. Must be able to handle multiple deadlines and maintain accuracy. Must be sensitive to cultural differences within the University and community. Must have demonstrated knowledge and interaction with media outlets. Must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be sensitive to cultural differences within the University and community. Fluent in Microsoft Office Applications.
Normal office environment, may travel some within the community when needed. May be required to transport normal office equipment and materials. Ability to comprehend and work with a variety of information from various sources. Able to clearly communicate with a diverse population of individuals. Ability to compose correspondence and reports and remain in a sedentary position for prolonged periods of time. May be required to work additional hours or days depending on circumstances.
