Job summary

Minnetonka Public School Service Center seeks a Speech Assistant Advisor at Minnetonka High School to support student speech activities. This role assists in advising and coaching, manages participation, and helps plan seasonal activity aligned with district policy.

You will supervise student behavior, coordinate with the Student Activities Office, and help ensure a positive learning environment while meeting deadlines and maintaining safety.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting student activities and enforcing district policies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, staff, and parents.
• Ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Advise individual student participants in the skills necessary for successful performance.
• Manage and supervise student behavior during activity events.
• Responsible for all matters pertaining to the organization and administration of advising/coaching an enrichment team.
• Provide a positive learning environment for student participants.
• Plan and schedule seasonal activity in accordance with District policy.
• Assume primary responsibility for scheduling and preparation of area/facility where event is to be held and coordinate with the Student Activities Office.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
• Enforce all rules of the Minnesota State High School League and Minnetonka Public School District Policies as they pertain to the respective enrichment activity.
• Assist the Director of Activities with hiring, development and evaluation of assistant advisors, when applicable.
• Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities, including an emergency action plan.
• Recommend purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate to the Director of Activities.
• Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times and, establish and oversee activity penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
• Attend, supervise and lead all related activities pertinent to the area of advising.
