Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Experience working with students with disabilities, preferably in higher education.
  • Knowledge of disability laws (ADA, Section 504) and best practices in disability services.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with student information systems and assistive technology.

Job description

Location: Lakewood, CO

Salary: $40,000 - $50,000 per year

The Student Accessibility Services Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the delivery of accommodations and support services for students with documented disabilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and other applicable laws. This position plays a vital role in promoting equal access, inclusion, and academic success for students with disabilities across all areas of the college.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the intake, evaluation, documentation review, and ongoing management of accommodation requests, including tracking submissions, monitoring pending approvals, maintaining confidential records, and ensuring timely renewal of accommodation letters.
  • Determine appropriate academic accommodations, develop individualized accommodation plans, and coordinate the implementation of accommodations and assistive technology services.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact and advocate for students with disabilities, providing timely guidance, support, intervention, and referrals as needed.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to implement accommodations, promote inclusive teaching practices, and provide training and resources on disability-related topics, compliance, and accessibility best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Compliance to support institutional compliance, interpret and implement federal, state, and local disability laws, develop accessibility policies and procedures, and provide guidance on complex accommodation matters.
  • Serve as recording secretary for the Academic Integrity Committee and Policy Appeal Committee by documenting weekly meetings, providing departmental insight on disability-related considerations, and preparing and distributing committee outcome notifications to students.
  • Represent Student Accessibility Services in cross-departmental committees, institutional initiatives, and system-wide accessibility meetings to promote collaboration, share best practices, and advance institutional accessibility goals.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging accessibility resources, assistive technologies, accommodations, and support strategies to enhance student success in both on-campus and online learning environments.
