Job summary

TYPSA, Inc. in Phoenix, AZ is seeking Structures Project Engineers to join our multi-disciplinary team. The role focuses on budgeting, design calculations, and client deliverables, with field assessment and inspection as needed.

Ideal candidates have strong communication skills and team orientation. Required: BSCE in Civil Engineering, 5+ years design experience, P.E. registration or ability to obtain within 6 months; DOT experience is a plus.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Description

The applicant should be capable of managing budgets, discipline tasks, and tracking projects while being responsible for client deliverables. Preparation and checking of design calculations, quantities, cost estimates, and project plans.. Additional duties may include field assessment and inspection of structures and facilities. Is self-motivated, technically proficient, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, and is team-oriented.

Job Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Skills)

• Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE) or a related field.Master’s Degree preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years of design experience for AZ role.
• P.E, Registration required in the jurisdiction of the position or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
• DOT experience
• Good interpersonal skills and capable of developing technical writing, and communications skills
• Ability to make mathematical computations and design engineering projects
• Ability to use engineering instruments and tools including computer workstations and bridge engineering software such as Open Bridge, MathCAD, RISA, and LPile. Demonstrate skill in MicroStation and AutoCAD
• Open Roads and Civil 3D experience a plus
• Valid Driver's License, with the ability to maintain insurability under the company's insurance carrier

This position will require general supervision and will have to use independent judgment within established guidelines. Will need the ability to establish rapport quickly with others working on the same project, and be able to promote a positive team environment. Working knowledge of dealing with a diverse population while using tact, diplomacy, and respect.
