Job summary

GoJet Airlines, LLC in Bridgeton, MO (HQ near St. Louis) seeks a Structures & Interiors Engineer to manage powerplant/APU engineering, alterations, repairs, and reliability programs, interfacing with OEMs, service providers, and internal departments to develop engineering data, documents, and instructions for maintenance and repair activities.

Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizen or eligible to work in the United States.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and SIDA badge eligibility.
  • Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
  • Minimum three years of powerplant/APU engineering or maintenance experience in a Part 121 carrier.
  • Ability to analyze Airworthiness Directives and service information.
  • Fluent reading and writing in English.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to the Professional Standards as outlined in GMM1 0-1.2.
  • Promote safety as the top priority in all aircraft and personnel activities.
  • Provide leadership and enforce compliance with FAA, EPA, OSHA, and company policies, procedures, manuals, and regulatory requirements.
  • Generate Powerplant/APU Engineering Orders to support compliance with Airworthiness Directives, service bulletins, alterations, repairs, and manufacturer approved parts; coordinate required parts and tooling.
  • Interface with OEM engine, APU, and component manufacturers regarding reliability, performance, and product improvements.
  • Review Powerplant/APU manufacturer service information to assess applicability and impact to the GoJet fleet.
  • Provide 24/7 engineering support to Maintenance Control, Line Maintenance, and Heavy Check maintenance for troubleshooting powerplant and APU issues.
  • Oversee the Operator's third-party administration of the Engine Condition Trend (ECTM) Program.

LOCATION - ST. LOUIS, MO - HQ

The Technical Engineering Specialist Powerplant and APU reports directly to the Manager, Technical Engineering. This position provides specialized in-depth knowledge, skill, and experience relating to aircraft powerplants, APUs, and associated alteration, repair, and reliability programs. The Specialist performs daily technical tasks to monitor, assess, and take proactive actions to maintain aircraft systems safely, reliably, and economically. The role liaises directly with OEMs, service providers, and internal departments to develop engineering data, documents, and instructions to support maintenance and repair activities. The Specialist also provides after-hours engineering support to Maintenance Control during AOG situations to maintain fleet dispatch reliability and operational safety.

QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

  • U.S. Citizen or have the legal right to accept employment in the United States.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and eligibility to obtain a Secure Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.
  • Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in powerplant and/or APU engineering or maintenance within a Part 121 air carrier (regional or mainline).
  • Ability to analyze Airworthiness Directives and manufacturer's service information.
  • Very competent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to read and write fluently in the English language.
  • Basic mathematical competency.
  • Ability to travel to annual MHIRJ and GE manufacturer technical conferences.

Preferred:

  • GE CF34-8C5 series powerplant and APU knowledge/experience on CRJ aircraft (experience on other aircraft types may be considered).
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare technical documents, reports, and briefing materials.
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations.
  • Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.
  • Ability to prioritize work and coordinate with various groups.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office applications and Adobe Acrobat Professional.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Generate Powerplant/APU Engineering Orders (EOs) to support compliance with Airworthiness Directives (ADs), service bulletins, alterations, repairs, and manufacturer approved parts; coordinate required parts and tooling.
  • Interface with OEM engine, APU, and component manufacturers regarding reliability, performance, and product improvements.
  • Review Powerplant/APU manufacturer service information (SBs, SLs, etc.) to assess applicability and impact to the GoJet fleet.
  • Provide 24/7 engineering support to Maintenance Control, Line Maintenance, and Heavy Check maintenance for troubleshooting powerplant and APU issues.
  • Oversee the Operator's third- party administration of the Engine Condition Trend.

Monitoring (ECTM) Program, including:

  • Review and analyze trend reports with OEM technical specialists.
  • Issue ECTM Alert Notices derived from trend analysis, specifying troubleshooting and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate with Short-Term and Intermediate Planning to ensure engines are removed in accordance with degradation limits.
  • Provide oversight and coordination for significant powerplant events such as engine changes and on-wing repairs, including:
  • Develop engine work scopes and coordinate with vendors to ensure compliance.
  • Obtain all required financial approvals.
  • Approve work scopes prior to shipment to approved vendor facilities.
  • Interact with Maintenance Programs & Planning to support timely revision and implementation of powerplant- and APU-related maintenance program changes.
  • Provide technical input to Maintenance Planning to ensure scheduled powerplant and APU inspections, shop visits, and life-limited part replacements are executed efficiently and in accordance with maintenance program criteria.
  • Coordinate powerplant and APU issues with other operational departments (e.g., Flight Operations, Ground Operations).
  • Support aircraft acquisition and lease redelivery activities related to powerplant and APU technical and financial requirements.
  • Ensure lease engines meet company standards as defined in the CAMP and GMM.
  • Maintain the APR Tracking Log for CF-34 engines in accordance with GMM1 7-11.2.1.
  • Develop changes to MX-043 documents for presentation to the Maintenance Review Board and coordinate IT updates upon approval.
  • Create and maintain drawings within the Technical Engineering Drawing System.
  • Review and/or develop Instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA) as required.
  • Generate Fleet Compliance Documents (FCDs) to support accomplishment of fleet-wide inspections.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager, Technical Engineering.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Work is primarily performed in an office setting with frequent visits to hangar and flight line environments.
  • May be required to work in areas with moderate noise levels, moving aircraft, and operational equipment.
  • Occasional travel is required to support maintenance bases, vendor facilities, and manufacturer technical conferences.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during inspections or meetings.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as operational needs require.
