Job summary

SpaceX in Texas is seeking a structures-focused Mechanical Engineer to own the design and delivery of Starship production infrastructure, including large steel structures, tooling, and ground support equipment. You will perform structural analysis, develop drawings, and coordinate with manufacturing and construction teams to ensure on-budget, on-time delivery.

A 1+ year background in structural design/analysis is required, with a bachelor's in mechanical/structural/aerospace engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, structural, or aerospace engineering required.
• 1+ years of professional experience in structural design or analysis of large-scale systems or heavy industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design of Starship production infrastructure from tooling fixtures to factory buildings.
• Perform structural analysis of steel, concrete, and composites under static and dynamic loads.
• Develop and review structural drawings, fabrication packages, and erection sequences.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, facilities, and construction teams to integrate structural systems with equipment.
• Support fabrication and construction activities, including review of weld procedures and field issues.
• Drive design decisions balancing performance, cost, schedule, and constructability.
• Manage scopes through full project lifecycle from concept to turnover.
• Interface with external firms to ensure designs meet SpaceX standards.
• Perform project control functions including scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
• Resolve field conflicts and implement rapid design changes when required.
• Own end-to-end delivery of projects with extreme ownership.
