Job summary

Candidates should have a mechanical engineering background, hands-on FEA experience, and the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly. Travel may be required, with a focus on delivering robust, state-of-the-art structures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years experience in structural analysis and FEA (Femap or ANSYS).
• Strong understanding of structural mechanics and materials science.
• Ability to lead and mentor junior engineers.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own structural design of ASV systems from concept through production.
• Maintain design gates and schedules for owned hardware.
• Prepare and conduct design reviews of owned structural systems/subsystems.
• Support prototyping and build of new ASV platforms.
• Support procurement of prototype hardware and supplier selection.
• Produce design artifacts including 3D models and 2D drawings.
• Perform preliminary sizing with hand calculations.
• Collaborate with hardware, product development, and production to optimize designs.
• Generate technical reports documenting design decisions.
