Buncombe County Schools is hiring a Structured Support Exceptional Children Teacher at West Buncombe Elementary School in Asheville, NC. 100% employment with full benefits, continuing/FT status, and state salary plus local supplement.

The teacher will implement district curricula, document progress, address individual needs, and maintain a safe learning environment. A Bachelor's degree and licensure pathway info are provided for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in special education or related field required.
• 18 semester hours of relevant coursework related to special education.
• GPA of 2.7 or higher (undergraduate or graduate).
• Official transcript dated from an accredited university.
• Former Lateral Entry license candidates are eligible to apply.

Responsibilities

• Maximize learning for students with special needs through district approved curriculum.
• Document teaching activities and student progress/outcomes.
• Address students' specific needs and provide a safe, optimal learning environment.
• Assist in developing and implementing IEP goals and accommodations.

Position Purpose: Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to maximize the learning experience of students with special needs, in academics, interpersonal skills and activities of daily living by implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities, outcomes; addressing students' specific needs; providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
