Job summary

Powernet is seeking an experienced cabling professional to manage projects independently and communicate effectively with customers. The role involves coordinating materials and labor, providing daily reports, and supporting the Lead with troubleshooting on cabling projects.

The ideal candidate has 2-4 years of cabling experience, a valid driver license, and a willingness to learn larger infrastructure projects while maintaining a professional appearance and customer relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Support Powernet projects and manage materials and labor hours for assigned jobs.
  • Communicate directly with customers and team leads.
  • Provide accurate Daily Job Reports and assist with job completion in systems.
  • Learn and assist with troubleshooting for cabling projects and cooperate with vendors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support and promote the mission, values and principles of Powernet and its subsidiaries.
  • Able to run smaller projects (0-10K)
  • Be able to communicate directly with customers.
  • Responsible for managing materials and labor hours for their projects.
  • Provide accurate Daily Job Reports.
  • Work with Service Management and vendor partners for customers job supplies.
  • Ability to learn, and help the Lead with troubleshooting for cabling projects.
  • Communicates regularly with Lead and Cabling Manager for any issues that may arise.
  • Represent the company in appearance and actions.
  • Work with internal departments to assist with job completion in systems.
  • Ability to follow directions and work on multiple activities and jobsites simultaneously
  • Follows documented company policies and procedures.

Requirements

Education, Experience and Skill Requirements
  • High School Degree, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good at following directions.
  • Great work attitude, eager to help cabling team members and customers.
  • Experience with telecommunications or cabling technology preferred.
  • 2-4 years of cabling experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver license and dependable transportation.
  • Must be able to pass a Background Check for School/Government work.
  • Ability to Install, Terminate and test: Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A and some Fiber.
  • Read and Understand, Floor plans, Riser Diagrams and Cable Schedules.
  • Pathway Installation of: J-Hooks, Ladder racks, cable tray and some conduit.
  • Label cables properly, record test results, markup print with completed runs.
  • Proficiency with Punch down tools, Crimpers, Fusion Splicer, Cable certifiers

Working Conditions

The duties of this position are typically performed on the customer job-sites with normal ranges of temperature and a moderate to high level of background noise. Most duties are performed at job-sites and entail long periods of standing, bending, and climbing while working with heavy cables and equipment. Communication typical occurs through face-to-face interaction, as well as via e-mail, telephone and written correspondence. This job also requires the ability to use other office equipment such as copier, fax machine, etc. To perform this job, you must possess the following physical abilities:

  • occasionally travel to meetings within the office as well as at other company office sites and client locations;
  • frequently standing, bending and lifting equipment.
  • frequently use hand/finger dexterity and hand/eye coordination to operate machinery, computer, telephone and other office equipment;
  • frequently listen and talk to customers on the telephone;
  • frequently communicate verbally and in writing with customers, vendors, co-workers and supervisors;
  • frequently use organizational, analytical and problem solving skills to manage high level of information and projects with varying degrees of priority, collect and research data, identify relationships and dependencies, summarize data and findings, resolve problems and generate reports;
  • constantly work in a team environment, effectively and efficiently achieving goals, improving processes and resolving problems; and
  • occasionally work more than 40 hours per workweek, including night shift hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • It is not possible to perform this job from home (telecommuting) without sacrificing quality and quantity of the work performed. You must be able to perform this job without posing a risk of harm to yourself or others.

Other Physical Abilities

Would include climbing ladders up to 30’, Lifting up to 120 lbs., Pulling wire and/or cable.
