The Role

The Structure Fitter Welder will lay out, fit, and weld fabricated components to assemble structural forms such as heat exchangers.

What You Will Be Responsible For

• Read blueprints for layout.
• Maintain regular attendance, punctuality, and the ability to work on-site, including overtime.
• Work cooperatively with others and interact respectfully with the public, customers, vendors, employees, managers, and executives.
• Perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and adapt to departmental interchangeability.
• Operate small machines and transfer or position workpieces manually using overhead or jib cranes.
• Identify and select different types of materials, including various grades of metal.
• Select abrasive wheels, disk, and die grinder bits according to specifications and condition of metal.
• Use power tools to remove weld splatter, burrs, and rust from structures.
• Load trucks manually with lifting equipment.
• Plan layout, assembly, and welding operations, and fit components together using cranes.
• Clamp and tack-weld parts to secure for welding.
• Use hand tools like tape measures, squares, levels, and perform simple math calculations for part dimensions.
• Conduct 100% first article inspections for quality assurance.
• Set up welding equipment, including assembling/disassembling tips, adjusting wire feed and voltage.
• Perform repairs by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
• Operate cutting and plasma torches, small saws, and iron machines for cutting and coping materials.

About You

• You can pass the American Welding Society 2g Plate Test or hold Canadian Welding Bureau certification.
• You have at least one year of structural fitting experience.
