Job summary

Riley Power group, LLC is a full-service maintenance and capital construction services company with multiple US sites. We are seeking skilled welders with GMAW-P and GMAW-SP experience to perform welds to NAVSEA requirements and pass on-site tests, including UT proficiency.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to read weld symbols required. Minimum 2–3 years experience, ability to work long shifts, and pass background and drug screening are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2–3 years of GMAW-P & GMAW-SP experience with High School diploma/GED and/or certification in assigned area preferred.
• Must read and interpret drawings and weld symbols with accuracy.
• Must pass respirator fit-check and wear respirator for portions/all of an 8–12 hour shift.
• Willing to work multiple shifts and OT as scheduled by client.

Responsibilities

• Weld carbon steel parts per drawings and NAVSEA specifications.
• Determine weld sequence and monitor heat input to minimize distortion.
• Pass weld tests including GMAW-P in 3 positions and GMAW-SP in 2G position; XRAY on site.
• Ensure first-time quality and proficiency with UT as required.

Pay rate

Pay rate is based on years of experience for this Tier 2 position, minimum: 2 to 3 years exp.

Essential Functions of this position may include but are not limited to:

• Ideal candidates will possess welding experience with GMAW-SP, GMAW-P and be able to pass weld tests in all positions IAW NAVSEA requirements and with first time quality, UT proficiency is a must!
• Ability to weld note 18 joints (full pen open root from one side, UT quality)
• Performs welding processes on carbon steel (OSS, HSS, HY, HSLA etc.) assemblies to required tolerances using welding metals, metal alloys and with various joint configurations.
• Determines weld sequence and welds parts and assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications, and proficient reading weld symbols.
• Oxy/Fuel pre-heat and carbon arc gouging. Verifying weld size using weld gauges.
• Will monitor heat input and weld in sequence to minimize weld distortion
• Requires occasional heaving lifting up to 50lbs multiple times during an 8-to-12-hour shift.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods during an 8 to 12-hour shift.
• Requires occasional bending from waist, crouching, kneeling and crawling periodically during an 8-to-12-hour shift.
• Requires occasional climbing ladders up to 25 feet at a time.
• Requires occasional working in confined space work environment with the potential of extreme temperature exposure, chemical exposure, and radiation exposure during an 8-to-12-hour shift.

Qualification, education, and experience requirements:

• Minimum: 2 to 3 years of GMAW-P & GMAW-SP experience with High School diploma/GED and/or certification in assigned area preferred.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision/oversight; have working knowledge of precision calibration tools (weld gauges), be able to operate multiple types of welding equipment, and possess good trouble shooting / problem solving skills.
• Highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to work multiple shifts.
• Willing to work the schedule set by the client and all OT
• Able to read and interpret drawings, technique sheets and weld symbols.
• Ability pass respirator fit-check and wearing of respirator for portions of, or all of, an 8 to 12-hour shift or as required. Must be clean shaven for fit-check and dawning of respirator.
• Must be a team player.
• Flexible, willing to work long hours, safety oriented.
• Experience with the Fabrication of Submarine and Air Craft Carrier parts preferred.

Weld Test Requirements:

• GMAW-P will be 3 position plate tests, with MIL-100S-1 wire; GMAW-SP will be in 2G position with MIL-100S-1 wire.
• Carbon arc proficiency test
• Weld tests will be X-Ray on site.
• Acceptance criteria is in accordance with NAVSEA Technical Publication S9074-AQ-GIB-010/248.

Successful candidate must possess the willingness and ability to complete and pass all pre-employment and employment screening requirements which may include but are not limited to medical, psychological (if required by site), background and substance abuse screening(s).
