Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a skilled Structural Welder to join our Cocoa, FL fabrication team. You will produce high-quality, code-compliant structural steel components for large-scale construction projects, working with MIG and FCAW in multiple positions.

This contract-to-hire role requires 1+ year of experience, a focus on safety and workmanship, and the ability to read fabrication drawings and weld symbols. The position is fully onsite in Cocoa, FL with occasional Saturdays potential.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of welding experience, structural steel preferred.
• Experience welding carbon steel components.
• Ability to produce consistent, code‑compliant welds.
• Understanding of joint types, weld sizes, and structural connections.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and weld symbols.
• Understand weld quality impact on structural integrity.
• Follow written work instructions and welding procedures.

Responsibilities

• Review fabrication drawings, work orders, weld symbols, and welding procedures before starting work.
• Set up welding equipment and verify materials, joint fit-up, and alignment.
• Perform structural welds on carbon steel using MIG and FCAW.
• Weld in multiple positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead).
• Control weld penetration, bead profile, and heat input to prevent distortion.
• Clean welds, remove slag, and perform basic grinding or touch-ups as needed.
• Conduct self-inspections to ensure weld quality and code compliance.
• Work with fitters, supervisors, and quality personnel to resolve issues.
• Follow safety procedures, PPE requirements, and hot-work practices.
• Prepare completed assemblies for inspection, coating, or shipment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cocoa, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
