Job description

1st Shift: 6:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday – Thursday, Friday and/or Saturday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm

2nd Shift: 3:30 pm to 2:00 am Monday – Thursday. Friday and/or Saturday 3:30 pm to 12:00 am

Overview: Duties include but are not limited to: Advanced skill level in all welding duties. Welds in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions. May also include “specialty” type Welders who possess multiple certifications in different processes.

Job Functions:

  • Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques.
  • Sets up equipment and welds parts, using a variety of weld processes and gas welding equipment.
  • Interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process.
  • Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness.
  • Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Education: May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with at least 3 to 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. May be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty.
  • Weld Experience: Fluxcore, Pulse and Spray
  • NAVSEA experience is a plus
  • SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: Hard hat, in required areas, safety shoes and safety glasses
