Position: Welder

Position Summary

Plan, lay out, weld, install, and repair all types of structural steel products in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, welding codes, and industry standards.

Experience Level: Intermediate

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

1. Set up, troubleshoot, and operate welding machines according to job specifications and welding procedures.
2. Preheat and weld metal components as specified by blueprints, welding symbols, job specifications, or welding procedures.
3. Weld using various processes: FCAW-S, FCAW-G, TGAW, GMAW, SMAW, and SAW.
4. Operate industry equipment such as air arc gougers, grinders, stress relieving machines, etc.
5. Make welding repairs and fix substandard welds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience.
• Knowledge of welding techniques and safety procedures.
• Effective communication skills to follow and transmit instructions.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and layout tools safely and efficiently.

Requirements

• Ability to move about construction/industrial sites: stand, walk, kneel, crouch, crawl, etc.
• Work outdoors in changing weather conditions.
• Work irregular hours, including weekends, overtime, and holidays.
• Use ladders, scaffolds, and mechanical platforms safely.
• Work in confined, cluttered, and uneven spaces.
• Complete tasks in noisy and dusty environments.
• Lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Possess required tools for the job.
• Follow safety and project rules, perform other duties as assigned.
• Pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing and be fit for duty.
