Job summary

Weeks Marine is seeking a skilled welder to plan, lay out, weld, and repair structural steel per plans and welding codes. The candidate will handle GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, GMAW and SAW, set up machines, and troubleshoot as needed.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, measuring, inspecting workmanship, and ensuring safety rules are followed on site. Applicants must be able to work overtime and in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent with experience in welding.
  • Strong working knowledge of welding processes and procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specs.

  • Operate welding machines and adjust parameters per job specs.
  • Inspect work for compliance and correct deficiencies.
  • Work outdoors in all weather and overtime as required.

Job description

Plan, lay-out, weld, install, and repair all types of structural steel products in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, welding codes and industry standards.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties
  • Perform welding on various materials at required position using different welding processes, including, but not limited to, GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, GMAW and SAW.
  • Lay out, position, fit and weld various structural components, including flanges, piping supports, structural plates, beams, etc., in accordance with the supplied piping/structural fabrication drawings.
  • Set up, troubleshoot, and operate welding machines according to job specifications and welding procedures.
  • Adjust valves, gauges, and flames as needed and be capable of handling compressed gas and oxygen cylinders safely.
  • Operate air arc gouger, grinder, and other industry machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
  • Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed.
Qualifications
  • May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Must possess strong working knowledge skills and abilities for position.
  • Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
  • Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools and layout tools as well as measurement tools
Requirements
  • Able to meet all physical requirements.
  • Must have all required tools
  • Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload
  • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.
