Job summary

Delta Constructors in Anchorage, Alaska is seeking a Structural Welder to operate welding machines, interpret blueprints, and join metal parts for structures. The role emphasizes safe, efficient welding across positions, with post-weld finishing and quality inspections.

Required qualifications include a high school diploma, 2 years in oil & gas or energy, a valid driver’s license, and passing a structural welding test (6", .432" 6g FCAW) with backing ring.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Work Experience: Two (2) years’ experience in oil & gas or energy industries preferred.
  • License/Certifications: Current and valid driver’s license.
  • Take and pass a pre-employment structural welding test (6", .432" 6g Dual Shield / FCAW) with backing ring.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes blueprints and structural drawings
  • Adheres to applicable welding methods in completion of structural fabrications
  • Utilizes manual and mechanical processes to weld in various positions
  • Calibrates welding tools and equipment according to welding procedure specifications
  • Cleans and prepare metal work pieces using scrapers, chemical solutions and grinders to ensure a smooth and contaminant-free surface
  • Cuts, repairs, and assembles building components to form complete structures
  • Inspects and evaluates welds to ensure they are free of defect and adhere to specifications
  • Conducts post-welding activities such as grinding, cleaning, and polishing of work pieces
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Summary:

Essential Job Functions:

Post Job Offer Requirements:


  • Take and pass a pre-employment drug test

  • Take and pass a Fit-for-Duty Examination


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:


  • Ability to consistently pass and perform acceptable NDE D1.1 AWS field weld inspection and maintain a project weld reject rate of >2% for fillet or full penetration welds in all positions.

  • Knowledge of industrial structural welding methods and techniques

  • Knowledge of proper use of equipment such as; welder torch, electrode holder, drill press, gas welding and welding electrode

  • Knowledge of Hazardous Materials and Safety Regulations and industry practices related to equipment use and operation

  • Knowledge and experience in oilfield operations, preferred

  • Ability to conduct appropriate tests to identify and correct faults in framework of structure

  • Ability tofollow instructions and communicate clearly
