Job summary

PACCAR Technical Center in Washington State seeks a Structural Test Hydraulic Repair Technician to maintain and repair hydraulic systems for R&D validation of PACCAR products. You will diagnose issues, repair components, and verify performance of high-speed hydraulics with specialized tools.

Responsibilities include implementing preventive maintenance, interpreting schematics, and documenting activity while collaborating with engineers and lab staff to minimize downtime and support program goals.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in hydraulic repair or related fields.
  • Ability to read hydraulic schematics and drawings.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic principles, fluid power systems, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer literacy for documentation and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, repair, maintain, and verify performance of hydraulic systems using diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Work with pumps, motors, cylinders, hoses, accumulators, servo valves, actuators, manifolds, and hydraulic power units.
  • Interface with control systems UIs to diagnose functionality.
  • Operate shop equipment safely (hand tools, presses, hoists, cranes, forklift, hydraulic test rigs).
  • Follow safety policies and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
  • Read and interpret hydraulic schematics, blueprints, drawings, and manuals.
  • Maintain records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, and inventory.
  • Collaborate with leadership to plan maintenance and continuous improvement.

Division Information

The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, and engine divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington.

Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Inspect, diagnose, repair, maintain, and verify performance of all aspects of research and development grade high speed hydraulic systems using specialized diagnostic tools, testing equipment and hand tools ensuring all work meets manufacturer specifications and quality standards.
  • System components include: pumps, motors, cylinders, hoses, accumulators, servo valves, actuators, manifolds, hydraulic power units.
  • Interface with commercial control systems user interfaces to diagnose and verify proper functionality
  • Operate shop equipment safely and effectively, including hand tools, presses, hoists, cranes, forklift, and hydraulic testing equipment.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Read and interpret hydraulic schematics, blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, equipment performance, equipment and service part inventory.
  • Collaborate with leadership to define, plan, and schedule maintenance and continuous improvement activities to reduce operational disruptions.
  • Work closely with engineers, lab personnel, and other team members to troubleshoot equipment issues and complete projects.
  • Collaborate with various members of the organization including engineers, other lab personnel, facilities, and leadership to ensure the hydraulic system supports the tactical and strategic goals of the organization
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in hydraulic repair, heavy equipment maintenance, or industrial mechanics.
  • Ability to read hydraulic schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic principles, fluid power systems, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong mechanical and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer literacy skills for documentation and reporting.
Education

High school diploma or GED required; Technical training in hydraulics, diesel mechanics, industrial maintenance, or a related field.
