Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a test engineer to lead a small team through structural test campaigns for lunar lander development. You will participate in assembly and testing of development and flight hardware, perform data analysis, and coordinate MGSE integration while maintaining a strong safety culture.

The role requires 5+ years in test-focused engineering, strong leadership, and proficiency with CAD tools like Creo. Relocation may be provided; travel up to 25% may be required as part of the job.”

Qualifications

• BS or MS in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in test-focused areas (loads, life cycle, proof, modal, shock, or acoustic).
• Ability to lead a small team (2–5 engineers) and coordinate with dispersed teams.
• Experience with design reviews, and ensuring safety and quality in testing.

• Lead a small team of early career engineers through an entire structural test campaign.
• Participate in assembly and test of development and flight hardware, including planning, execution, data reduction and analysis.
• Identify and assist in design, procurement and integration of机械 Ground Support Equipment (MGSE).
• Lead daily test operations, operate test consoles, direct technician work and coordinate with internal customers.
• Perform root cause analysis and failure investigations; communicate status updates with stakeholders.
• Coordinate test crews, support equipment and configurations for testing; ensure safety policies are followed.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Lead a small team of early career engineers through an entire structural test campaign
• Participate in the assembly and test of development and flight hardware including planning, execution, data reduction and analysis
• Identify and assist in design, procurement and integration of Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE)
• Lead daily test operations, operate test consoles, direct technician work and coordinate with internal customers
• Perform root cause, system hazard analysis and failure investigations
• Troubleshoot issues that arise during testing, including managing procedural redlines and updates during test campaigns
• Proactively prepare status updates and communicate both within the organization and with direct customers
• Participate in test readiness reviews, pre and post-test briefings, and post-test reviews
• Coordinate test crews, support equipment and configurations for testing
• Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations
• Find opportunities for safety improvements and cost savings

Minimum Qualifications

• Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
• BS or MS in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related technical discipline
• 5+ years experience, including test-specific experience in at least one of the following areas: loads, life cycle, proof, modal, shock or acoustic
• Ability to assign tasking, delegate workload and supervise a team of 2-5 engineers
• Experience working on dispersed rapid development teams, driving process development
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
• Basic understanding in the fundamentals of design (requirements identification, material selection, input definition, form factors, interface definition, environmental considerations, etc.)
• Intermediate proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E preferred) including drawing creation.
• Intermediate proficiency in strength and mechanics of materials.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with space vehicle component or integrated vehicle testing including structural, environmental and performance
• Experience with participating in NASA technical reviews
• Experience with test facility instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control Systems, including troubleshooting analog and digital hardware with bench measurement equipment
