Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Test Engineer to support the Lunar Permanence program, joining a team building safe, reusable space hardware. You will lead environmental test campaigns, guide test readiness, and collaborate with engineers to ensure mission success.

You have a background in aerospace/mechanical/electrical engineering with 2+ years of test experience, CAD proficiency, and a passion for space. This role may require travel and some night/weekend work as we push toward sustainable human

• Execute an entire environmental test campaign from planning to data collection
• Participate in assembly and test of development and flight hardware
• Identify and assist in designing Mechanical Ground Support Equipment
• Lead daily test operations and coordinate with internal customers
• Perform root cause and failure investigations
• Troubleshoot issues during testing and manage test documentation
• Communicate with engineers and leadership during test planning and execution
• Coordinate test crews and testing configurations

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Execute an entire environmental test campaign from planning to data collection
• Participate in the assembly and test of development and flight hardware including planning, execution, data reduction and analysis
• Identify and assist in designing of Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE)
• Lead daily test operations, operate test consoles, direct technician work and coordinate with internal customers
• Perform root cause, system hazard analysis and failure investigations
• Troubleshoot issues that arise during testing, including managing procedural redlines and updates during test campaigns
• Proactively communicate with Responsible Engineers and immediate leadership throughout test planning and execution
• Participate in test readiness reviews, pre and post-test briefings, and post-test reviews
• Coordinate test crews, support equipment and configurations for testing
• Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations

Minimum Qualifications

• Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
• BS or MS in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related technical discipline
• 2+ years experience, including test-specific experience
• Experience in one or more of the following: Thermal vacuum testing, acoustic testing, modal testing, shock testing
• Ability to identify tasking and manage personal workload across multiple test campaigns
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
• Basic understanding in the fundamentals of design (requirements identification, material selection, input definition, form factors, interface definition, environmental considerations, etc.)
• Basic proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E preferred) including drawing creation

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with space vehicle component or integrated vehicle testing including acoustic, modal and shock
• Experience with participating in NASA technical reviews
• Experience with test facility instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control Systems, including troubleshooting analog and digital hardware with bench measurement equipment
• Understands/experience with hazardous operations
• Experience with control actuators, deployable devices (doors, landing gear, sensors, etc.), hydraulic system components, separation systems, or other mechanical systems
